Act. 2.0b The Sun shines on the Earth

GOAL: Think about the Sun's impact on the Earth.

1.  Go to the Earth Viewer - various cities (open this link in a New Window).
2.  Choose any city in the world, click,  and look at it's view from space.
3.  Under the city image, choose the world map. This world map shows what the Earth looks like at this very moment.  Look at the world map and discuss what you see with your partner.
4.  Individually, write a paragraph describing the pattern of light and dark you see on this map, then explain why you see that pattern.

5. Think about the edge of the night shadow on the Earth View picture . Read this page. In your essay compare the edge of the night shadow on Earth and on the moon. Include the definitions of 'limb' and 'terminator'. Also compare the Earth and Moon in terms of atmosphere.
